Nestled in the heart of the picturesque province of Oppland in Norway, Hunderfossen Familiepark

stands as a beacon of enchantment and joy for all who seek a truly memorable adventure. This gem of an amusement park, located just north of Lillehammer, is a testament to the magic that comes to life when imagination meets nature's grandeur. With a rich history dating back to its founding in 1984, Hunderfossen has blossomed into one of Norway's most celebrated tourist attractions, drawing in over 275,000 visitors every summer.

The backdrop against which this amusement park is set is nothing short of incredible. The rolling green mountains that surround the park provide a breath-taking Norwegian panorama that seems almost too beautiful to be real. As you wander through the park's pathways, you're continually reminded of the sheer magnificence of nature, a reminder that only adds to the park's atmosphere.

The true magic, however, lies in the people who make Hunderfossen come alive. The staff's warmth and friendliness are the threads that weave the fabric of wonder throughout the park. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed with open arms and genuine smiles, as if you've entered a world where you're not just a visitor, but an honoured guest in a magical realm.

Speaking of magic, few things can compare to the thrill of encountering the iconic Troll that graces the park's entrance. It's a moment that's hard to put into words – the blend of excitement and wonder that rushes through you as you come face to face with a creature straight out of Norwegian folklore. The troll isn't just a statue; it's a living embodiment of the stories that have captivated generations and is the largest Troll in the world!

After a morning of exploring and rides, our taste buds were treated to a delightful surprise in the form of a delicious pizza. While the menu didn't initially offer a vegan option, the staff showcased their dedication by going above and beyond to craft a vegan pizza that was super tasty, and we were so incredibly appreciative.

Our adventure at Hunderfossen Familiepark took an hilarious turn as we embarked on the Trollfallet ride – a captivating blend of darkness, suspense, and hilarity. Inspired by a traditional folk tale, the ride immersed us in a quest to rescue a prince and princess held captive by cunning trolls atop the tallest tower. The challenge, however, was anything but straightforward; each approach we made was met by the trolls, leading to a series of amusing attempts and ended with a free-fall drop. The culmination? The ride photos captured the sheer essence of what I can only describe as falling faster than anything has ever fallen before. As we came out from the ride and glimpsed our own faces in those photos, we were literally crying with fits of laughter. The Trollfallet ride at Hunderfossen achieved the rare feat of creating the most side-splitting ride photos we've ever encountered – a memory that will forever bring smiles to our faces and will definately be framed in our home (or used as Halloween decor!)

And let's not forget the park's convenient location, just a short walk from the Hunderfossen Resort. This proximity ensures that your journey from the thrills of the park to the comforts of the resort is as effortless as it is enjoyable, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. It took us about 10 minutes to walk from our Eco cabin in the Hunderfossen resort. You can read the full review for our time in the Eco cabin here.
